How to share videos with WhatsApp for iPhone

Share your favorite moments with friends and family is a breeze with WhatsApp.

One of the biggest perks to using WhatsApp is free picture and video messaging over Wi-Fi. And there are several ways for you to send pics or vids with WhatsApp as you go about your day, whether you’re globetrotting around the world or just sharing an adorable picture of your cat with a friend in Japan.

WhatsApp offers a robust number of options for sending photos and videos straight from within the app. Without leaving the app, you can take multiple photos, do some quick edits, and send them off to your friend.

How to record and share a video with WhatsApp for iPhone

If a picture is worth a thousand words, say more by sending a video.

Using WhatsApp, you can send a quick video to a group chat to capture an epic moment among friends or share quick video messages to a far-off friend in an instant. As well as recording live video from within the app, you can also share videos stored in your camera roll.

1. Launch WhatsApp from the Home screen.

2. Tap the Chats tab on the bottom menu.

3. Tap an existing conversation.

4. Tap the Camera button. This launches the built-in camera function.

5. Set up your camera.

  • Tap the Camera Switch button to toggle between the rear-and front-facing cameras. 
  • Tap the flash button to toggle through the flash options. It’s set on automatic by default.

6. Hold the record button to start recording video.

Tap the Flash button to toggle the camera flash, Tap the Camera Switch button to switch between the front- and back-facing cameras,  tap and hold the record button.

7. To stop recording, release the record button.

Note: If you want to cancel and discard an in-progress recording, drag your finger away from the record button. When the screen turns red, lift your finger you discard the recording.

8. Tap and hold the record button again if you want to capture another video. The number of pending videos will be listed as a number on the record button.

9. Tap Done when you’re done shooting video.

Release the shutter button to stop recording, Tap done. Then you need edits.

10. Next, you can make edits to your videos from within the app by tapping the Rotate and Crop icons, edit the duration of the video with the Timeline Editor or delete the photo by tapping the Trash Can icon.

11. Tap Tap to add a caption… to add a caption to your video. Imagine that!

12. Tap Send when you’re done editing and ready to send the video.

Use the top buttons and timeline editor to edit the video, tap to add a caption and then tap send.
